INVITATION TO THE EMPC 2007 CONFERENCE
European Microelectronics and Packaging Conference & Exhibition in Oulu, Finland June 17-20, 2007

On behalf of IMAPS Europe and IMAPS Nordic I invite you to attend the16th European Microelectronic and Packaging Conference and Exhibition in the hi-tech city of Oulu, Finland.

The IMAPS EMPC is Europe’s premier conference related to microelectronics packaging and interconnection technologies. The EMPC conference addresses „everything in electronics between the chip and the system”.

Planned every two years in a different European country, for the past 30 years, this conference will follow the ISHM/IMAPS tradition of industrial/scientific programme on micro-electronics, materials, manufacturing and industrialisation. It will, however, be expanded from traditional microelectronics packaging to include latest advances in related fields like sensors, nanotechnology and real System in Package applications and brings together specialists from industry and academia. Special attention is also given to the business related issues of our industry. For the second time in Europe, a special session by the IMAPS Global Business Council (GBC) is introduced.

The programme is now published on our web. It was difficult to fit two parallel sessions with a set of “special” sessions and 4 Poster sessions. Collisions of interests cannot be avoided but we are sure everybody can work out a very interesting agenda for the 3 days. For those who want to learn more we have 6 focused Tutorials, to be held before and after the conference programme.

Tutorials include:
1. Reliability Basics,
2. From Component Level to System-Level Reliability Estimates,
3. Photonics packaging and integration,
4. SIP for handsets,
5. Principles of Roll-to-Roll manufacturing technologies for printed electronics, optics and optoelectronics manufacturing,
6. LTCC (Low Temperature Cofired Ceramics) sensors, actuators and microsystems.

In addition to the focused IMAPS exhibition we have a special R&D village where ongoing research in Europe is displayed. By the end of January we had already 19 respective 10 exhibitors!

Starting from this conference IEEE CPMT in Europe is a co-sponsor. This way we increase participation, extend impact and above all we improve the value of our publications becoming part of IEEE database!

The venue is the centrally located, beautiful City Theatre, for 4 days dedicated to IMAPS only. Oulu is well connected through Helsinki, Finland (20 daily flights a´ 50 min), and Stockholm, Sweden. The unique panOulu public WLAN access network covers all conference and hotel areas free of charge! The conference participants will be offered active interaction with the Oulu hi-tech hub both in the programme and on a private basis.
